Affected by the growth of motorcycle ownership and the expansion of e-commerce distribution demand in Southeast Asia, China's motorcycle trunk exports reached 1.2 million pieces from January to August 2025, a year-on-year increase of 42%. Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand were the main export destinations, accounting for 65% of the total export volume. The Southeast Asian market prefers medium capacity trunk boxes (35L-40L) with high cost-effectiveness, and has higher requirements for waterproof performance. Due to the long duration of the local rainy season, some orders may also require additional anti drop corner protectors.
In order to meet market demand, domestic enterprises have adjusted their overseas strategies one after another: Zhejiang Dongsheng has set up an assembly factory in Indonesia, using local labor to reduce production costs, and the product prices are 10% lower than domestic exports; Marriott has optimized the installation structure of the trunk base to cater to the riding habits of Southeast Asian users, and is compatible with mainstream local models such as Honda Beat and Yamaha NMAX. According to the Southeast Asian Motorcycle Industry Association's prediction, the demand for tailpipes in the region will maintain an average annual growth rate of over 30% in the next three years, and domestic enterprises with production capacity and technological advantages are expected to further expand their market share.
