FAQ

Q

Can the child seat be fixed to the rear trunk? Is there a safety hazard?

A

It is not recommended to fix the child seat on the rear trunk, as there are serious safety hazards. Firstly, the design of the rear trunk mainly focuses on the load-bearing capacity of objects and cannot withstand the dynamic impact force of children (such as sudden braking or bumps, where the child's weight may instantly exceed the trunk's load-bearing capacity), which can easily cause the trunk to fall off and the base to break; Secondly, the position of the trunk is relatively high, and there is a lack of effective protective measures for children when riding. If a collision occurs, children are prone to falling off the trunk; In addition, in most regions of motorcycle regulations, it is explicitly prohibited to carry children on the trunk. The correct approach is to choose a motorcycle specific child seat, fixed on a dedicated bracket in front of the driver or on the side of the vehicle, and children need to wear a dedicated helmet to ensure safety.

Q

Accidentally rear ended while riding, causing the trunk to deform. Can it still be used?

A

It needs to be judged based on the degree of deformation: if the box is only slightly depressed (not broken, not affecting the lid closure), and the base, lock, and buckle functions are normal, it can continue to be used. For slight depressions, try heating the depressed area with a hot air gun (low temperature mode), and gently lift it up from the inside with your hand for repair (ABS material is suitable, metal material is not recommended for self repair); If the box is broken, the lock is damaged, or the base is deformed, it is not recommended to continue using it. The broken box cannot guarantee waterproof and anti-theft performance, and the deformed base may affect driving safety. In this case, the damaged parts need to be replaced (it is recommended to replace the entire metal trunk base after deformation to avoid a decrease in load-bearing capacity after welding repair).

Q

How to store the trunk after long-term disuse to avoid damage?

A

Before storage, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the box with a damp cloth to remove dust and oil stains, and then dry it with a dry cloth to avoid rust caused by residual moisture (stainless steel material needs to be wiped dry, ABS material needs to avoid residual oil stains); Next, check the sealing gasket. If stored for a long time, apply a small amount of talcum powder on the gasket to prevent aging and adhesion; Then place a moisture-proof agent (such as silicone desiccant) inside the trunk to prevent mold growth on the inner lining in a humid environment; Finally, place the trunk in a dry, ventilated place away from direct sunlight and avoid heavy pressure (stacking other items is not recommended). Store the base separately from the box to prevent long-term deformation of the buckle.

Q

The motorcycle is a retro model without reserved installation holes. Can it be fitted with a trunk?

A

Can be installed, special installation accessories suitable for retro car models need to be selected: first, purchase a retro car specific rear shelf (choose a style that matches the car frame, prioritize stainless steel or aluminum alloy for stronger load-bearing), and fix the rear shelf through reserved holes in the frame or special fixtures; Reinstall the universal trunk base. If the base does not match the shelf hole position, an adapter can be used (be careful to avoid key stress points on the frame when drilling holes); Some brands also offer customized retro style tailboxes (such as leather wrapping or simple metal models), which not only adapt to the appearance of the car model, but also ensure installation stability. It is recommended to find a professional repair shop for installation to avoid self drilling and damaging the frame.

Q

How can food delivery riders extend the lifespan of their trunk by frequently opening and closing it every day?

A

Firstly, avoid violent switches by gently lifting the lid when opening and gently pressing the lock when closing to prevent excessive wear of the buckle and lock cylinder; Secondly, regularly drip a small amount of lubricating oil into the lock cylinder (choose specialized mechanical lubricating oil and avoid using edible oil) to reduce the resistance of key insertion and removal; To avoid scratching the food box with sharp objects during loading, waterproof and wear-resistant pads (made of PVC material, easy to clean and scratch resistant) can be laid inside the box; Clean up residual oil and food residues inside the box after work every day, keep it dry, and prevent internal corrosion of the box (especially for stainless steel tail boxes, avoid long-term contact with acidic oil stains); Regularly check the base buckle, and adjust it in a timely manner if it becomes loose to avoid the box shaking and exacerbating wear.

Q

The anti-theft lock cylinder of the rear trunk is broken, can it be replaced by oneself? What should I pay attention to?

A

Most tailgate lock cores can be replaced by themselves. The steps are as follows: first remove the fixing screws (usually 2-3) on the inner side of the tailgate lock core, and then remove the damaged lock core; Purchase a lock cylinder of the same model (provide the brand and model of the trunk, or measure the size of the original lock cylinder), place the new lock cylinder into the lock hole, align the screw hole, and tighten and fix it; Test whether the lock cylinder switch is smooth, ensuring that the key can be inserted, rotated, and locked normally. Attention: When replacing, power off (if the trunk has an alarm function) to avoid short circuits in the circuit; The fixing screws of the lock core of the stainless steel tail box may rust, and a small amount of rust remover can be applied before disassembly.

Q

Can scratches be repaired on the ABS material trunk? What are the repair methods?

A

Minor scratches (without damaging the base color) can be repaired: First, use fine sandpaper (800-1000 grit) dipped in water to gently polish the scratch area and remove surface burrs; Use a paint repair pen of the same color scheme (to be purchased by comparing the color code of the trunk in advance) to apply scratches, and after drying, lightly polish again with 2000 grit sandpaper; Finally, apply a layer of transparent protective wax, which can fade scratches after polishing. If the scratch is deep (exposing the base color or material), it is recommended to contact the manufacturer's after-sales service. Some brands provide partial paint repair services, or directly replace the box (ABS material box has a lower purchase cost, about 50-100 yuan).

Q

What are the solutions for the leakage of the trunk on rainy days?

A

Firstly, check whether the sealing gasket is aged, deformed, or detached. If the gasket is damaged, it needs to be replaced with a waterproof gasket of the same model (you can contact the manufacturer's after-sales service for purchase); Next, check if the box cover is properly closed. Some tail boxes may not be tightly closed due to loose lock buckles. The lock buckle position can be adjusted or the lock cylinder can be replaced; If the water leakage is minor, a layer of waterproof sealant (selective silicone adhesive to avoid material corrosion) can be evenly applied on the inside of the rubber ring; In addition, regularly clean the drainage holes at the bottom of the trunk to prevent sediment from blocking and causing water accumulation. When the drainage holes are blocked, a thin wire can be used to gently clear them.

Q

After installing the trunk, it was found that there was significant shaking while driving. How can I solve this problem?

A

First, check if the base is securely installed. If the screws on the base are loose, use a wrench to tighten them diagonally; Re check if the buckle between the box and the base is fully engaged. Some quick release tailboxes may shake due to misalignment of the buckle, and need to be realigned and locked by pressing; If it still shakes, you can check whether the frame is deformed or replace it with a specialized base with stronger load-bearing capacity (it is recommended to choose an alloy base with a load-bearing capacity of more than 20 kilograms), while avoiding loading items that exceed the rated load-bearing capacity of the trunk (most trunk rated load-bearing capacities are 15-20 kilograms).

Q

How to choose the rear trunk capacity for motorcycles with different displacements?

A

Matching displacement with riding scenarios: For small displacement models with a displacement of 125cc or less, it is recommended to choose a capacity of 35L or less to avoid increasing vehicle load and affecting handling with a large capacity trunk; The 150cc to 250cc medium displacement model, with a medium capacity of 40L-45L, is the preferred choice, balancing storage and driving stability; For large displacement models above 250cc, you can choose 48L-49L large capacity according to long-distance needs, without worrying too much about handling pressure.
