ABS material: a cost-effective choice, with the characteristics of lightness and agility, weighing only about 3 kilograms (45 liters capacity), easy to process into various shapes, affordable price, 45 liters capacity set price is about 100-200 yuan. But it has weak scratch resistance and may soften or become brittle at extreme temperatures, making it suitable for entry-level users with limited budgets.
Aluminum alloy material: a balance of lightweight and sturdy, known as the "light cavalry". Strong impact resistance, excellent weather resistance, and resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The 45 liter capacity weighs about 3.5-5 kilograms, and the set price is 200-300 yuan. Can the child seat be fixed to the rear trunk? Is there a safety hazard?

It is not recommended to fix the child seat on the rear trunk, as there are serious safety hazards. Firstly, the design of the rear trunk mainly focuses on the load-bearing capacity of objects and cannot withstand the dynamic impact force of children (such as sudden braking or bumps, where the child's weight may instantly exceed the trunk's load-bearing capacity), which can easily cause the trunk to fall off and the base to break; Secondly, the position of the trunk is relatively high, and there is a lack of effective protective measures for children when riding. If a collision occurs, children are prone to falling off the trunk; In addition, in most regions of motorcycle regulations, it is explicitly prohibited to carry children on the trunk. The correct approach is to choose a motorcycle specific child seat, fixed on a dedicated bracket in front of the driver or on the side of the vehicle, and children need to wear a dedicated helmet to ensure safety.

Accidentally rear ended while riding, causing the trunk to deform. Can it still be used?
A
It needs to be judged based on the degree of deformation: if the box is only slightly depressed (not broken, not affecting the lid closure), and the base, lock, and buckle functions are normal, it can continue to be used. For slight depressions, try heating the depressed area with a hot air gun (low temperature mode), and gently lift it up from the inside with your hand for repair (ABS material is suitable, metal material is not recommended for self repair); If the box is broken, the lock is damaged, or the base is deformed, it is not recommended to continue using it. The broken box cannot guarantee waterproof and anti-theft performance, and the deformed base may affect driving safety. In this case, the damaged parts need to be replaced (it is recommended to replace the entire metal trunk base after deformation to avoid a decrease in load-bearing capacity after welding repair).

How to store the trunk after long-term disuse to avoid damage?

Before storage, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the box with a damp cloth to remove dust and oil stains, and then dry it with a dry cloth to avoid rust caused by residual moisture (stainless steel material needs to be wiped dry, ABS material needs to avoid residual oil stains); Next, check the sealing gasket. If stored for a long time, apply a small amount of talcum powder on the gasket to prevent aging and adhesion; Then place a moisture-proof agent (such as silicone desiccant) inside the trunk to prevent mold growth on the inner lining in a humid environment; Finally, place the trunk in a dry, ventilated place away from direct sunlight and avoid heavy pressure (stacking other items is not recommended). Store the base separately from the box to prevent long-term deformation of the buckle.
